Abstract

There can be several reasons for migration. When someone migrates under pressure in situations of violence, they are forced to leave their land and home and are forced to cross geographical and existential borders. It's about ceasing to be what they were in order, at all costs, to ward off death. To understand the lives of people displaced by violence, I turn to literary fiction. Fiction allows us to understand, from the perspective of the threatened person, what they feel and expect in extreme situations. Those displaced by violence keep hope alive; they are tireless pursuers of peace. For displaced people, religion is a source of hope to overcome fear and resignation.
