Abstract

In light of the transformative, missionary, and ecumenical proposal of the Second Vatican Council, this article offers a critical reflection on mission in dialogue and its implications for the missionary process nowadays. Considering the current reality that impacts the church's mission from a dialogical perspective, this study is systematized by a theological vision of mission conceived dialogically. It aims at presenting the missionary work articulated in these 60 years since the Council's conclusion. The methodology will be a bibliographical and documentary analysis of theologians who present the exercise of ecumenical reflection within the horizon of dialogue and mission. The conclusion is that mission in dialogue is present in the wake of the Second Vatican Council as a hermeneutical space for coexistence independent of the differences of its interlocutors. The study points to a new transformative understanding of the objectives of mission through three missiological cores present in the council's transformative proposal, namely: missionary work, interreligious dialogue, and solidarity-based cooperation with humanity.
